Contact lenses
If you wear monthly contact lenses, consider switching to dailies for travelling, as you won't need to carry cleaning fluid, and if you lose or break them it's not such a problem. Take a pair of glasses as back-up though..

Put a sock in it!
Take a spare sock or two with you either when travelling or on holiday. They make great sunglasses cases, small bags for bits and pieces, purses etc. I keep my camera in one to protect it from scatches.

Great hotel for Non-drivers in San Diego
When we stayed in San Diego we decided not not hire a car - instead we stayed at the Handlery Hotel. It has a complimentary shuttle bus to and from many of the local attractions including Seaworld, Old Town, Bilbao Park and San Diego Zoo. By voyager.
