Contact lenses
If you wear monthly contact lenses, consider switching to dailies for travelling, as you won't need to carry cleaning fluid, and if you lose or break them it's not such a problem. Take a pair of glasses as back-up though..

Put a sock in it!
Take a spare sock or two with you either when travelling or on holiday. They make great sunglasses cases, small bags for bits and pieces, purses etc. I keep my camera in one to protect it from scatches.

Use Plastic Bags for Plugs
If you find yourself with a sink but no plug, line the basin with a plastic bag - it should hold water for long enought to wash yourself or your clothes.

Exam Pencil Cases - perfect for taking liquids on flights
