Budget accom in Karatu

St. Catherine's Monastery near Karatu (5 mins from the Ngorongoro Crater gate towards Karatu, 15 mins from Karatu town) is run by Camaldolese Benedectine Nuns (only 5 nuns). They offer accommodation and meals to guests and visitors.

Rooms for guests are in a separate wing (surrounding a beautiful courtyard) from the nuns' quarters in the Italian style building. Bedrooms are ensuite (with heated shower), spacious and clean. Costs US$40 for bed and breakfast. Lunch and dinner can be arranged. I had all meals there.
