If you have pre-booked a car with Alamo/National for off-peak pick-up (eg after 10.00am), don't check-in and do the paperwork even a few minutes earlier or you will be charged the peak time rate - luckily we heard the person in front of us dicover this to his cost so we waited until until 10.00. The staff will also try and persuade you to upgrade to a larger car - we had booked an economy and were told there wouldn't be room for our luggage - we said we would be fine with it and, sure enough, we had room to spare even with 2 medium sized cases and a holdall.
