China train travel

Added by RealTravelEditor - 20/06/2008 09:45

If travelling by train in China, it's important to know that you can't book tickets for journeys that don't start in the city you're currently in. Say you're in Shanghai, you can only actually purchase tickets from Shanghai and not, for example, from Beijing to Xian.

This means you need to buy tickets as soon as you arrive in a destination if you don't want to risk being stranded or having to pay more for higher class berths - especially in the summer months, when most people in China travel.
