On the island of Chiloé, the Miradór de Chepu eco-campsite and lodging is a great place to stay for bird lovers and outdoor enthusiasts; the friendly owners run "Kayaking at Dawn" trips in the Chepu Valley sunken forest and walking excursions along the coast to visit a penguin colony and see the pudú (pygmy deer), as well as throwing great barbecues for their guests.
