Handling money in India

Added by Lizziebee - 01/01/1970 01:00

Keeping large amounts of money with you in India can be risky regarding theft. The best way to avoid this is to have two purses - one for the larger amounts of money (which you can leave behind at your accommodation or keep at the back of your bag somewhere safe) and the other for smaller change when paying regularly for rickshaw wallahs and tipping, etc. It's a good idea to fold each note up seperately, so you can bring one note out at a time, rather than having to show a whole bundle of them.
Please remember to wash your hands as soon as possible after handling money or before eating - handling money is an easy way for germs to get onto your hands - this will help you avoid 'delhi-belly'!
