Hi,

Does anyone know of an airline that flies from South America (particular city not important at this stage of my planning) directly to New Zealand???? I know Air New Zealand only from from LA to New Zealand and really wouldnt want to go all the way back up there.

Thank you

Sorry can't personally help, but if you go on STA travel and go on the round the world part, it may be able to hook you up with cities/flights, even if it can't it should give you a good idea at least. x

Haha. Me again. I got bored. According to the STA Travel site you can fly from Buenos Aires to Auckland. Direct. Hope this helps. x

I flew from Auckland to Santiago on part of my round the world ticket. It was five years ago but I can't imagine this would have changed that much... I can't remember who I flew with but it was either Qantas, Iberia or Cathays Pacific...

Thanks.

Ive seen that QANTAS fly there for about £800, which might have to be done. Otherwise i figure it mught be cheaper to travel back up to LA then fly to Auckland.

Or getting there by sea would be awesome if anyone has any ideas of how to do that? It'd be cool to do that considering im not going across greenland due to the HUGE expense of doing that

I flew, recently, from Santiago to Auckland. Lan Chile to Easter Island (well worth a stop), and then New Zealand Air via Tahiti (not worth a stop).

So do Air New Zealand fly out of Easter Island to Tahiti? cos i didnt think they did. Or do you have to fly back to Santiago to fly to Tahiti? I read in Lonely Planet for Chile fly to Easter Island to Tahiti.

also, how much did your flights cost?

Good day Ian, You would be able to fly Auckland-Papette on Air New Zeland or Air Tahiti Nui, then take LAN (Chile) PPT-Santiago (via stop on Easter Island). Not certain of best fare structure options. You could possibly stop off on Easter Island for a few days as well. Just remember these flights do not operate on a daily basis, so some advanced planning will be in order. Safe travels. FV61

Thanks. That seems like the only option. However, it is still hard to find these flights, especially for reasonable cost.

hiya, we are going from Santiago to Easter Island, to Tahiti via LAN (used a multiple stop flight which brought the cost down) We then found it much cheaper to fly from Tahiti to Australia using Air Caledonie International via the website Bravofly, and then bounce into NZ using Jetstar (direct website). Roundabout route but after much searching we found this combo to be the cheapest to get across (and do the bits inbetween!) Still quite expensive though - the south america into nz/oz expense cant really be avoided.

How much did you pay out of curiosity?
